Infrared thermography allows for rapid identification of electrical problems before they fail, saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars in unscheduled repairs. Since electrical components typically give indications of impending failure (in the form of increased heat) a proper routine inspection can minimize the potential effects of electrical failures.

As electrical faults develop, the electrical resistance of the offending item (switch, fuse, connections, breaker, etc) will increase, leading to a corresponding increase in temperature, until it finally fails. Heat is often an early symptom of equipment damage or malfunction, making it a key performance parameter monitored in predictive maintenance (PdM) programs. Infrared predictive maintenance regularly checks the temperature of critical equipment, allowing them to track operating conditions over time and quickly identify unusual readings for further inspection. By monitoring equipment performance and scheduling maintenance when needed, the likelihood of unplanned downtime due to equipment failure, spend less on “reactive” maintenance fees and equipment repair costs, extend the lifespan of machine assets, and further maximize maintenance and production.

Total Electric Inc. thermographers can detect, document, and provide written reports of electrical components long before the fail.

  • Pinpoints Hot Spots in Electrical Systems
  • Reduces Down Time – Increases Profits
  • Substantially Reduces Unscheduled Outages and Losses
  • Reduces Electrical Energy Costs by Increasing Energy Efficiency
  • Proactive, Predictive Approach – Avoids Unscheduled Maintenance
  • Increases Efficiency in Electrical Maintenance Programs

Today’s facilities engineers are saving millions of dollars every year with infrared electrical surveys. An infrared electrical scan can substantially improve profitability and reduce your operating, testing and maintenance costs by:

  • quickly pinpointing problem
  • reducing downtime and equipment damage
  • preventing catastrophic failures
  • establishing repair priorities
  • improving preventive maintenance efficiency
  • testing under load to avoid costly shutdowns

In electrical systems, excessive heat is a sign of impending trouble. High temperatures indicate excessive electrical resistance, failing components, ground faults, short circuits or other common problems in electric equipment that can lead to expensive or even catastrophic failures. Trying to find these developing failures with visual and manual inspections is a costly, time-consuming process that may not locate the underlying problems.

Using cutting-edge infrared detection technology, our Thermographers rapidly and accurately pinpoint the thermal anomalies that threaten the safety and reliability of your electrical systems.

Thousands of points can be tested in a single day. In a matter of hours, our electrical infrared testing can develop a complete catalog of the hidden thermal stresses in your operating equipment.

Because thermography is non-contact and nondestructive, there is no need to interrupt production or plan for costly shutdowns. Our thermographers inspect your equipment under normal loads and operating conditions, so you don’t have to disrupt your service and production schedules. By performing an infrared scan of your electrical system in ‘real time’ our inspections can help you understand the practical impacts of emerging component problems.

You can pinpoint and repair electrical problems before they happen with our Electrical Inspections. Reduce downtime and increase profits with an infrared electrical test. Save time and money, call today for a free quote:573 756-1709

TEI thermograghers have the ability to detect anomalies in systems other than electrical as well. Our thermograghers can detect anomalies in the following areas: mechanical, steam, and roofing systems.

Mechanical System Inspection

  • Pinpoints Problems in Rotating Equipment
  • Identifies Overheating Motors, Bearings, Couplings, Shafts, Belts, U-Joints, etc.
  • Targets Problems Due to Alignment, Overloading, Lubrication
  • Substantially Reduces Risk of Catastrophic Equipment failure

Steam System Inspection

  • Cuts Fuel Costs by Increasing Energy Efficiency
  • Identifies Blocked / Faulty Steam Traps and Lines
  • Locates Plugged Exchangers
  • Pinpoints Boiler and Refractory Problems
  • Detects Problems in Real Time, No Need to Shut Down
  • Identifies Small Problems Before They Become Bigger and More Costly

Infrared Roof Moisture Survey

  • Pinpoints and Documents Areas of Wet Insulation in Flat Roofs
  • Saves Thousands of Dollars on Roof Repair and Replacement Costs
  • Reduces Risk of Structural Damage and Failure of Your New Roof
  • Targets Problem Roof Areas – Stretches Roof Maintenance Dollars
  • Inspection Saves Money – Wet Roofing Insulation Wastes Energy
  • Identifies Small Roof Problems Before They Become Bigger & More Costly

Tank Levels & Identify the Presence of Sludge

Our staff of thermograhers, depending on conditions, can indicate the level within a tank or vessel. We have the ability, depending on conditions, to locate sludge in the tank or vessels as well.

Levels in uninsulated tanks can be determined to a fraction of an inch. Insulation causes the surface to be less sensitive to change, however if conditions are managed properly the level still may be determined. Rarely are tanks insulated to the extent that a slight thermal pattern cannot be induced on the surface of the insulation.
